The Foster Creek Conservation District is
responsible for:
Facilitation and negotiation of a county-wide Habitat
Conservation Plan (HCP) to address Endangered Species Act listings in the
agricultural community.
Serving as the Lead Entity for Watershed Planning under ESHB 2514 in
WRIAs 44 & 50.
Coordinating the efforts of the Douglas County Watershed Planning Association including
a watershed assessment and management plan.
Sponsoring educational tours for private landowners,
elected officials, and the general public. This includes an annual day-long
multiple bus tour. Our goal with this tour is to build common ground among the
environmental community, agricultural landowners, agency representatives, and
private citizens.
Serving as Lead Entity for Salmon Recovery activities in WRIAs 44 & 50
to administer and facilitate a Citizen Advisory Group and Technical Advisory
Committee in soliciting and
prioritizing salmon recovery projects for the Salmon Recovery Funding Board.
Development of a GIS database in cooperation with Douglas County
illustrating the current status of all resources in the county (water
quality, erosion, air quality, wildlife, customs, economic stability,
soil quality, species habitat, etc.)
Providing youth education through
the Regional Envirothon and other activities in the schools.
Cooperatively addressing invasive species issues and problems.
Providing feedback on federal farm bill programs through the Chelan,
Okanogan, and Douglas Local Working Group.
Surveying private landowners in order to address local conservation
concerns.
