Invasive
weed species in Douglas County can cause loss of wildlife habitat,
biodiversity, and increased costs to the agricultural
community. in 2000, Foster Creek CD began partnering with
WSU Extension to identify the major invasive weeds within Douglas
County to begin distributing biological controls (bugs) to help
control their populations. To-date we have distributed over
100,000 bugs to over 100 cooperators in the county.
Additionally, FCCD offers a limited herbicide cost share program
to target specific invasive weeds that are not yet widespread in
the county that we desire to contain and eradicate before they do.
Sign
ups for either program are ongoing so please contact
us at the district offices if you are interested in our control
program.
