Publication Name Estimate of the Size of
the Salmon and Steelhead Trout Populations of the Upper Columbia River,
1872-1939. The Confederated Tribes of the Colville
Reservation. Et Al, -v- The United States of America
ID # 386

were or would have been
available to the Colville Confederated Tribes during the years 1872-1939. The
starting and ending years
are significant as 1872 is the year in which the Colville Indian Reservation
was
established and 1939 is
the year in which Grand Coulee Dam totally eliminated the salmon and steelhead
from spawning and rearing
areas in some 1140 miles of streams.
The limits of the study
are the Okanogan River to the west, the Columbia River to the south and east,
and
the international border
with Canada to the north.
